بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
بِسۡمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِیثُ ٱلۡغَـٰشِیَةِ
[1]HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event?'
وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ خَـٰشِعَةٌ
[2]Some faces will on that Day be downcast,
عَامِلَةࣱ نَّاصِبَةࣱ
[3]toiling [under burdens of sin], worn out [by fear],
تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِیَةࣰ
[4]about to enter a glowing fire,
تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَیۡنٍ ءَانِیَةࣲ
[5]given to drink from a boiling spring.
لَّیۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِیعࣲ
[6]No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns,
لَّا یُسۡمِنُ وَلَا یُغۡنِی مِن جُوعࣲ
[7]which gives no strength and neither stills hunger.
وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ نَّاعِمَةࣱ
[8][And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss,
لِّسَعۡیِهَا رَاضِیَةࣱ
[9]well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving,
فِی جَنَّةٍ عَالِیَةࣲ
[10]in a garden sublime,
